Let’s start with how I came up with Cimarron Travel. I wanted a name that represented a sense of adventure, and I remembered my visit to Cimarron, New Mexico, and its rich history. The small town was once an important stagecoach stop on the Old Santa Fe Trail, it was a crossroad in the wild west. It was a travel hub. I could only imagine all the travelers starting out on an adventure.
The origins of Cimarron [ sim-uh-rohn ] come from Colonial Spanish for “wild (ram)”, and later an Old West meaning for “wild or untamed”. It was perfect because a great adventure is wild in nature.
I have been a traveler for most of my life. Some of my earliest memories are traveling across the country. My dad was in the military, so my family was always moving. Traveling became part of who I am.
From an early age, I eagerly took on the role of navigating our family road trips, poring over road maps to pinpoint our location, estimate travel times, explore nearby attractions, and create a sense of anticipation. As I grew older, this passion for planning and embarking on my own adventures only intensified.
Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate enough to embark on various travels, both for work and leisure. My wanderlust led me on incredible journeys, from my first overseas trip exploring Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, to interning in Germany during a memorable summer. I’ve also had the opportunity to call Hawaii home at different points in my life, immersing myself in its vibrant culture. Working and living on a Sportfishing boat near Waikiki for over a year was an unforgettable experience.
My work has taken me across the South, Midwest, and West, allowing me to discover diverse corners of my own country. Additionally, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring Quebec and England on multiple occasions, each visit adding new layers to my travel experiences. One standout memory was participating in an exhilarating endurance event on the awe-inspiring “wild” Great Wall of China. I can go on and on about all the cool places I’ve visited.
In 2019, I reached a point where I yearned for a change and stumbled upon the realization that travel agents still play a valuable role. Although I was booking my own travel arrangements online, I recognized the expertise and personal touch that a travel agent could provide. In January of 2020, I embarked on the journey of starting my own travel business, which finally came to fruition in 2022. (Note: Unfortunately, my start coincided with the onset of a global pandemic, which posed unforeseen challenges.)
Despite the obstacles faced, my passion for travel remains unwavering, and I am eager to share my knowledge and expertise as a travel advisor, helping others create unforgettable experiences and discover the wonders of the world.
Not only do I love to travel and want others to experience what the world has to offer. I’ve worked most of my life serving customers. I know the importance of working with others to realize their goals. I bring that to my own travel business.
